Crypto airdrop review

Variational Points & Airdrop Status

Quick answer: Variational has a points program, but no token conversion or claim is confirmed as of August 12, 2026. Use only omni.variational.io for the next safe step. Do not treat points, old quests, or community posts as a guaranteed allocation at this time.

Variational has a live points program, but the points are not money. The project plans to give about half of VAR tokens to the community, yet it has not explained how Omni points will affect that distribution.…

Project reality

Why the project matters

What it does
Variational is an on-chain derivatives protocol that lets users trade perpetual futures and other derivatives on crypto, equities, commodities, and forex. Its Omni app runs on Arbitrum One and uses a Request-for-Quote model with isolated on-chain escrow for settlement; Omni points are issued weekly, but the project has not published a point-to-token conversion rate. What is live
The current live product state is not yet recorded separately from campaign research.
Where value flows
Disclosed funding exceeds $60 million: a $50 million Series A led by Dragonfly Capital in May 2026 with participation from Bain Capital Crypto and Coinbase Ventures (variational-series-a, variational-coindesk-series-a, variational-fortune-series-a), an earlier $10.3 million seed round led by Bain Capital Crypto and Peak XV Partners, and a $1.5 million strategic round reported by The Block. Official docs state Variational completed audits with Zellic (December 2024) and Spearbit (March 2025) before Omni's private mainnet launch, though independent reviewers note the public audit reports have not been published. Funding does not establish the value of Omni points. [variational-series-a, variational-coindesk-series-a, variational-fortune-series-a, variational-block-strategic, variational-audit-docs]

Reward rules

How rewards work

Omni points are an activity score, not money. Variational distributes them weekly and can change or remove them for inorganic behavior or a terms violation. The company plans to distribute about 50% of VAR tokens to the community, but VAR is not live and the official pages do not connect a fixed number of points to a fixed token amount. Airdroplet cannot estimate a payout.

Before spending

Cost and risk

A deposit and later withdrawal cost at least 0.2 USDC in total. Omni says it charges no trading fee and covers gas, but each trade still crosses a bid and ask spread and may pay funding. A 0.5% liquidation penalty applies when margin reaches the liquidation condition. Your full collateral can be lost. The protocol, wallet allowance, bridge used to reach Arbitrum, and Omni's counterparty system also add technical risk.

Source-backed guidance

How to improve eligibility

  • Use one real account and follow the anti-manipulation rules.
  • Trade only when you already want the position, not to force volume.
  • Check points after each Friday distribution and record unexpected changes.
  • Use a valid referral only if it reflects a real new user.
  • Ignore unofficial cash estimates for each point.
Editorial judgment

Airdroplet verdict

Track it only if you already trade perps

Best for: Experienced perpetual traders who already hold USDC on Arbitrum

Skip if: You are new to leverage or would trade only to earn points

  • The points program and weekly cadence are official.
  • VAR is planned and about 50% is intended for the community.
  • No point-to-token conversion or claim date is announced.
  • The app requires an invite and trading collateral.
  • Leveraged trading and liquidation make this unsuitable for beginners.
  • Arbitrum Foundation partnership adds audit support and protocol analytics (2026): concrete ecosystem signal but still no public audit-firm name.
  • Audit firms Zellic (Dec 2024) and Spearbit (March 2025) are now named on the official security docs, filling a previous evidence gap; CoinLaunch notes the public audit reports were not published.
  • Independent confirmation of the $50M Series A from Fortune, CoinDesk, and The Block tightens the funding signal beyond the original Business Wire release.

Re-ranked 2026-08-12: no material change. New public evidence is positive (audit firms Zellic and Spearbit now named on the official security docs, $50M Series A confirmed by Fortune and CoinDesk, UI V2 / PWA launch on the X handle) but points-to-token conversion, claim date, and vesting remain unannounced; independent reviewers also note the public audit reports were not published. Score and tier hold at 58 / C; tracked because weekly distributions continue no later than end of Q3 2026.

  4. Refreshed project overview, funding line, and X summary. Added the $1.5M strategic round (The Block), the Arbitrum Foundation partnership with audit support, and CoinDesk's independent confirmation of the $50M Series A. Live X timeline was unavailable (xurl unauthenticated); x_summary is built from a web-search snapshot of @variational_io. Score and tier unchanged at 58 / C.

Treat the Arbitrum partnership as a positive signal; still do not assign a cash value to Omni points.

  5. Refreshed funding_info to name the audit firms (Zellic and Spearbit) now listed on the official security docs before Omni's private mainnet, added Fortune's independent Series A confirmation, and noted CoinLaunch's caveat that the public audit reports have not been published. X_summary updated to surface the UI V2 / PWA launch alongside the $50M raise and the Arbitrum Foundation expansion. Score and tier unchanged at 58 / C.

Treat the named auditors as positive-but-qualified signal; the lack of public audit reports still warrants caution. Continue to ignore unofficial cash values for Omni points.

Direct answers

Questions

Is a Variational airdrop confirmed?

No point-to-token reward is confirmed. Omni points are official, and Variational plans to distribute about 50% of VAR to the community. The project has not said how points convert, and its terms say points do not guarantee financial value.

When are Omni points issued?

The official points page says points are issued each Friday at 00:00 UTC for activity through Thursday at 00:00 UTC. Weekly distributions will end no later than the end of Q3 2026, but no exact final date is stated.

Is Omni free to use?

No. Omni lists zero trading fees and covers gas, but each deposit and withdrawal costs 0.1 USDC. Trades also cross a spread and can incur funding. Market losses and liquidation are the main costs.

Do I need an invite?

Yes. The official docs still describe Omni mainnet as a closed beta and ask for a referral code during account setup.

Should a crypto beginner trade for these points?

No. Perpetual futures use leverage and can liquidate your collateral. A beginner should learn with a no-deposit task instead of opening trades only for points.
